Arcadia is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the Phoenix–Scottsdale, Arizona area. The Camelback Road corridor, as our map shows, defines Arcadia’s northern boundary that adjoins Paradise Valley.
Arcadia’s development as a residential community began sometime in the mid-1950s when suburbanization caught up with many of the citrus farms around Phoenix. The homes sites in Arcadia were former citrus groves which dominated its locality since the early 1900s. Reminding their area’s past, many of the residences in this neighborhood have large, acre-sized lots with sprawling yards planted with lemon, orange and grapefruit trees.
Arcadia homes for sale range from ranch houses built in the 1950s to newly constructed mansions priced anywhere between the $300s and the $16 million range. The high-end single family homes are mainly found in the Arcadia neighborhood Camelback East. Here, the priciest residences feature floor areas ranging from 3,600 square feet up to nearly 19,000 square feet designed with five up to 10 bedrooms. Smaller home choices in this neighborhood have floor plans of about 1,400 square feet designed with three bedrooms.
Several condo/townhouse neighborhoods have also been developed in Arcadia, and among these are Villa Lafayette, Camelback Castille and Arcadia Grove. Their sales listings are typically priced from the high $100s up to the $600s, coming in one- up to three-bedroom designs within floor plans starting from 720 up to nearly 3,000 square feet.
Amenities: Arcadia has earned the moniker “Beverly Hills of Phoenix” owing to its superior home designs and the superb local setting. This community offers gorgeous views of the Camelback Mountain. So named because of its striking resemblance to a kneeling camel, this mountain came to be known as the soul of Phoenix. Besides being a local icon, it provides the city’s some of the best trails for hikers at the Camelback Mountain Echo Recreation Area between Arcadia and Paradise Valley.
Shopping is convenient for Arcadia residents, with the high end Biltmore Fashion Park located just at the edges of their neighborhood. Anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue, it is also home to upscale boutiques like Calypso, Escada, Ralph Lauren, Stuart Weitzman, and Cole Haan. Popular restaurants, sophisticated lounges and wine cafes, like Capital Grille, Postino, and Le Grande Orange, are also among the attractions in and around Arcadia.
Schools: Arcadia High is but one of the schools serving this neighborhood. Students can likewise choose from either Evit-Arcadia High or Great Hearts Academies. Ingleside Middle is among choices of middle schools near Arcadia, while primary schools nearby include Hopi Elementary and Tavan Elementary.
